Ismaël Auray studied Cinema at New York Film Academy and Concordia University. He directed over 12 short films.
In 2007, his last short film Cabaret de la dernière chance was showcased in a "Coup de coeur" selection by the renown festival programmer Danny Lennon at Cannes Film Festival. This short film also received the jury's fiction prize during the Vidéastes recherché.es film festival.
In 2011, Ismaël started working in the video game industry in the cinematic's department at Beenox - Activision as a Cinematic Designer. He work on various titles including the renown franchise Skylanders and The Amazing Spider-Man.
In 2013, Ismaël joined Ubisoft Quebec as the Assistant Cinematic Director for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. The Studio had the opportunity to lead this world renown triple A franchise. On Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Ismael organised and prepared the Motion Capture preproduction of over 90+ minutes of cinematics. He worked closely with the storyboard artists, camera artists, designers, writers and key production stakeholders to ensure that the Director’s vision was clearly communicated internally and with Partner Studios. During the motion capture sessions, he assisted the Director with staging and actor direction. He also contributed as Main Director for over 35 minutes of cinematics.
In 2016, Ismaël joined Gearbox Studio Québec as the Narrative Director / Cinematic Director.
